ABOUT
Dearborn
A Stunning Place to Live or Work
Dearborn is a mid-size city, with nearly 100,000 people calling the area home. It was originally founded in 1786, giving this city over 200 years of rich history to explore. The city's namesake, Henry Dearborn, was a general during the American Revolution and, later, Thomas Jefferson's secretary of war.
But what Dearborn, MI, is best known for is being the home of Henry Ford and the birthplace of the Ford Motor Company. Ford's influence and presence are still heavily felt in the area, and not just because Dearborn is still home to the Ford Motor Company's world headquarters. This makes it a perfect spot for history buffs and auto enthusiasts alike. While in Dearborn, you can explore the Henry Ford Museum, the Automotive Hall of Fame, and the Henry Ford Estate. The Ford Rouge Factory Tour is another must-do item for any car lover.
Ford also helped shape the demographics of Dearborn. He employed thousands of immigrants from the Middle East who were eager to get in on the booming auto industry. Today, Dearborn is incredibly diverse and boasts one of the largest Arab American populations in the country. It's no surprise to learn Dearborn is also home to the only museum in the world dedicated to educating visitors on Arab American history and culture.
Some other attractions you can only find in Dearborn include the Ford Drive-In Theater, Ford Lanes Bowling Center, the Dearborn Ice Skating Center, and several community parks. Dearborn is also home to the annual Old Car Festival. This car show takes place the weekend after Labor Day and serves as an opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to connect, network, and admire the classics.
Dearborn, MI, is a unique area that balances a small-town feel with big-city offerings, making it a great place to settle down or visit for a while.
